MUSIC MINISTRY

MUSIC MINISTRY

Whether playing an instrument or singing in a choir, we come together in ministry to praise and glorify God in
music and song.

ADULT CHOIRS
Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir sings for the 11:00 Sunday Sanctuary service. Rehearsal for this group is on Wednesday nights from 7:15 until 9:00pm. People singing in this group should able to match pitch and learn their part singing four-part harmony. Rehearsals move along at a fast pace in order to be prepared to sing every week and also to prepare for special seasonal music such as Christmas and Easter cantatas.

Wesley Choir
This choir sings for the 8:30 Sunday Sanctuary service. Rehearsal for this is at 8:10 on Sunday mornings in preparation for that day’s service and the following week’s service. Participants in the Wesley Choir need to be able to match pitch and learn music that can be presented with limited rehearsal time. Another important function of these choirs is to lead the congregational singing.

Adult Handbells
The adult handbell choir is open to anyone 18 years of age or older who is interested in glorifying God through the ringing of bells and is willing to make a commitment to weekly practice. Reading music is not a requirement, but it is helpful to at least understand rhythm and note values. Practice is each Wednesday from 6:30 until 7:15. The handbells present selections at both morning sanctuary services throughout the year. We are fortunate to have 3 octaves of bells, so it takes 11 players to present a piece of music. Additional players are needed as substitutes.
